Welcome to issue 46 of the INOU e-Bulletin!
In this issue we report from the INOU Annual Delegate Conference where a number of important motions were passed, productive discussions around the issues of unemployment and welfare, and elections to the National Executive Committee took place. The ADC provided guidance for our recommendations: the INOU Pre-Budget Submission , and in that article we lay out where we would like to see the Government invest resources. There is an article on our on-going call for Socio-Economic Status Ground to be included in Ireland’s equality legislation.
We cover the recently released NESC report Digital Inclusion in Ireland which explores the growing divide between those able to move with the increasing digitalisation of Irish life and those left behind. Expanding upon this we have articles covering Broadband Connectivity in Ireland, where and who has access to it, and a piece covering ways for organisations to Facilitate Remote Working .
We take you through the Key Unemployment Statistics covered in the recent Labour Force Survey , along with the recently released Pathways to Work 2021-2025 , the Government’s strategy for getting people back into employment post-Covid-19, and a piece on the Work Placement Experience Programme, a part of that plan. We also feature a piece on Unemployment and Mental Health exploring issues which can have a negative effect on the mental health of unemployed people.
