Covid-19 has presented huge challenges for individuals, families, communities, and organisations in the last 18 months. One area though which has worked out better than anticipated for most, is that of online training. The INOU, similar to most other organisations that provide training and run events, moved our training online and that online training has been, and continues to be very well attended and very well regarded.
More recently, we asked for feedback from members and others who have attended our online training in relation to specific topics and themes that they would like to see the INOU provide. As a result, we have organised a series of two-hour training online modules. In July, we ran the two-hour online training module ‘Disability Payments: Application, Qualification and Taking-up Work’ on three separate occasions. In August the two-hour online training module ‘Back to Education Allowance’ (BTEA) online module was equally popular, also being delivered on three occasions.
These short, targeted ‘deep dives’ into a specific topic work well with a mix of presentation and discussion. Attendees have found the opportunities to ask questions and seek clarification on the BTEA and Disability payments that have arisen during their work very useful.
A number of people attending different online training and events have raised queries in relation to the Decision-Making process for different payments. We plan to organise two two-hour online training modules later this month which will focus on the Reviews, Appeals and the Decision-Making process.
Over 130 people have attended the two-hour online training modules to date, delivered by the INOU’s Welfare Rights Section Manager Robbert Lynch and we would like to thank everyone who attended.
