My experience while attending the Community development course in the INOU, was not only an educational experience for me, it too helped me grow on a personal level. That I now have choices and am now employed in my {just for now job} with plans to go to {big college}as I call it ha next year. ….so I thank you to all the tutors and staff of the INOU for all of your support and positive experiences.
When i done building futures it gave me great confidence in my art ability. Debbie the art tutor was brilliant for showing me my potential.
I left school over thirty years ago and was initially reluctant to sign up for the course based on fear of returning to education not knowing if I would fit in and be able to complete the different modules involved with the course. From day one we were treated with a lot of kindness and compassion along with the feeling that the tutors were there to help anyone and no matter the issue nothing was an problem and that it could be fixed. The course has been life changing and I have learned so much about myself, the importance of team work, listening to others opinions and respecting them in an environment that was so positive. If you want a challenge and are open to new ideas of learning this course is a must.
My experience that i had on the Building Futures Local Training Initiative course was great. All the tutors were great and helped us a lot in the course .
"My time in Building Futures was a very positive experience. The facilitators dedicated, supportive and positive approach helped to build confidence in my ability to achieve whatever I put my mind to. The content, support, and encouragement I received during my time at Building Futures was amasing and prepared me for my journey through college and the accomplishment of a lifelong goalThank you."
I was accepted for the training and entered it nervously but excited and eager to do well as it had been a long time since I was in a learning environment and didn't exactly know what to expect. There was plenty of assignments to do the tutors gave every participant adequate time and help to get them finished, there was never any pressure put on us, so it wasn't long before my anxieties were alleviated and I began to feel at ease. The tutors were wholly supportive, educational and encouraging. I found my old self,I gained confidence and it gave me a new perspective on where I wanted to go with my life. I am currently employed with Merchants Quay Ireland and all that I learned from my time with the I.N.O U. is put to use everyday. I would encourage anyone who wants to learn and gain experience to look at their website, pick a course that suits them and do it, you won't regret it. So thank you I.N.O.U. for your support ,advice and guidance.
When I look back at my progress after completing the Building Futures programme I can state that it acted as a trampoline to participation in real life again. Before finding building futures I was without hope for a future. Taking part on the course was the most enjoyable year of education I have ever experienced. The tutors, and training team alongside all staff within the INOU, nurtured, supported and encouraged each of us to recognise and strive for our goals. This wasn’t always easy, and I know at times it made my eyeballs get leaky (I don’t cry) as it was hard to imagine I, little oul me, could reach my goals. I was more used to obstacles, but building futures helped to change the negative thinking to viewing obstacles as stepping stones. I have just completed a four-year degree in DCU and can boast that I’ll be graduating with a first class honours degree and have gained employment in the field I desired. It’s said that school days are the happiest of your life, not always true, but in Building Futures that is a fact.
When I first came to Buildings future I had very low self esteem and confidence and didn't trust a lot of people. You believed in me and helped me grow not only did you help me gain knowledge and more confidence. I can now stand up in front of people and do presentations. You knew how to push and motivate me to follow my dreams. Without you and your teams help I would have never dreamt of filling in an application form for college and writing up an personal statement but with your help I did and got a place in TU Dublin Blanchardstown campus and I'have just completed my 2nd year going into my 3rd year of college doing a honours bachelor degree in Youth and Community development. The team you gave me the support to believe I can do this and most of all you helped me to become more determined and extremely motivated to prove people wrong. It may take longer than you hoped to flow your dream as Obstacles and family life got in the way but never give up on your dream no matter how old or young you are. If it wasn't for your team who believed in me I don't know what I would be doing now for that I'm truthly grateful.
Building Futures with a great lecturer in Laura. There's a huge amount of learning along with team building. Your confidence will grow & you will make friends for life while gaining a greater understanding of yourself and the community around you.
I learned so much about myself as a person and what I was capable of. I've met some amazing people within the programme which who have made a big difference in my life at that time. All the staff involved were the most helpful and most genuine people I have ever met. I wouldn't be were I am today, if it wasn't for some of those people. I enjoyed every minute of it, even the assignments but whenever things got too much for me, I could always depend on Laura, Anne or Dave to help me if I was struggling. Thank you for everything guys.
